Art, Culture & Environment

Arts

Within the Pumas outreach program the Pumas will use local resources in South Florida to give their outreach children opportunities and experiences they might not have in other programs.  The Pumas will utilize institutions such as :

  • The Kravis Center
  • The Palm Beach Photographic Center
  • Norton Museum of Art
  • Boca Raton Museum of Art

The Pumas will give the outreach program participants experiences in the different types of art as well as music such as:

  • Salsa
  • Latin
  • Hip Hop
  • Jazz
  • Reggae

Culture

The Pumas outreach program will provide children with opportunities to learn more about their own cultures and heritage as well as experience other ones.  Palm Beach County is one of the more diverse counties in the United States and we will use to our advantage.  There are plenty of places to learn about the history and heritage of the area as well:

  • Flagler Museum
  • South Florida Science Museum
  • Jupiter Lighthouse
  • Yesteryear Village

Environment

The Pumas outreach program will provide hands on experience in learning about the environment.  Palm Beach County, lying near the ocean and within drive of one of America’s great National Parks makes available some great environmental education outlets.  A few areas the Pumas hope to work with are:

  • Everglades National Park
  • Loxahatchee Wildlife Preserve
  • Lion Country Safari
  • Gumbo Limbo Nature Center
  • Miami Seaquarium
