Pumas Soccer: Connecting Communities, Families and Cultures
in Palm Beach County
As Palm Beach County population grows, it is visible in daily life that our community is becoming more diverse each year. These changing times have transformed the way we think, behave and interact with one another. It is important to create a program through soccer to help the community naturally embrace diversity. In our effort to aid this cause we share a curriculum to help young people and their parents to appreciate diversity and cultural understanding while promoting unity and respect.
Young people today face many issues relating to tolerance in our community. Our hope is for children to have a better understanding of the cluster of media images and daily stories of conflict due to racial, religious and ethnic differences. We hope through these curriculums that it helps us all have a better understanding of ourselves, peers and the community around us. The ultimate goal is for young people to have a better understanding between themselves, between cultures and for future generations to come.
The program seeks to:
- Help young people raise awareness of the ways in which they can all begin to understand each other
- Teach young people how to respect each other and appreciate diversity in our community
- Better understand the diversity of humanity that makes up the world today
