West Palm Beach- (November 1, 2005) - Co-founders of the Palm Beach Pumas, Bobby Lennon and Sue Anne “Cookie” Ketcham have been inducted into the USL Hall Fame. Lennon serves as the Academy’s Director and Ketcham, now a Board of Directors member, lives out of the area.
Ketcham and Lennon first partnered as co-founders of the USL Richmond Kickers dating back in 1992. The pair was responsible for taking the Kickers to “The Double” in 1995 winning both the PDL and US Open Cup. The club also received the PDL Organization of the Year that same year. Before they sold the club in 1997, the team was a league finalist losing to the California Jaguars in overtime shootouts.
In 1999, the Palm Beach Pumas were created. The PDL franchise has helped advanced 5 players to Major League Soccer and European clubs. Lennon said, “I am happy that Cookie is recognized by her peers for all of her unselfish and hard work building soccer at the grass root levels in this country. If it was not for people like Cookie Ketcham, professional minor league soccer would never have gotten off the ground and there would be fewer opportunities for players, coaches and referees. I am very grateful of all the experiences, good times and the people we met along the way”.
